Sometime in the late 1980s, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince hit the London, England studio of Tim Westwood. In the same city where they recorded extensively as a duo at the time. Unlike MCs or DJs appearing on Westwood’s show, this tandem could improvise vocally, and musically—and please believe they did.
Tim liberates a circa 1987, Rock The House-era freestyle of Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff in total concentration. Playing with Public Enemy’s “Public Enemy No.1,” Eric B. & Rakim’s “I Know You Got Soul,” and LL Cool J’s “Rock The Bells,” the duo rocks an in-studio party with style and finesse. It’s apparent that the award-winning DJ is still the focal point of the West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania duo at this time, but the MC’s charm and confidence shine through. Source: AFH
