It’s the Friday Fast Lane Magazine Feel Good Quickie Mix for June 8, 2012. I had an opportunity to meet MC Hammer @MCHammer last week and I have to say that this brother is as cool as a Fan. I love the fact the artist, like Hammer, take the time out to THANK their fans and DJ’s for supporting their music. I stood out by the where the Hammer was making his entrance for about 3 hours. I know, call me crazy, but you need to understand my passion and my mission as a DJ/Entertainer.
The people that walked by me were shocked to see me holding his vinyl records, but I got a lot of smiles and a thumbs up. I was kicked off the curb by security and asked me to leave the premises, but was not going to stop Dave Stylus because I have been waiting over 20 years for this opportunity. I was not going to leave my post.
As A DJ, I go and support Hip Hop and R & B artist when they come to my town and I would be that guy with the 12″ records and a sharpie. You will be surprised that a lot of artists do not take the time to sign My records. It only takes 1.2 seconds for a signature, but most will turn me down. For those artist that don’t sign my records, I grab my sharpie and write on my record, Thank You for Not Signing my Record YOU CAN HAVE IT BACK.
If you don’t believe me, go ask Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Rakim, MC Lyte, Beyonce, and the list goes on. I have been DJ’ing since 1986 and have a large collection of vinyl records so giving them their record back does not bother me at all. Problem is you will not be on the next Mix and will not get any support for MIX 96.6 FM.
With music industry taking a dive, artist should now be more appreciable for DJ’s supporting their music. With that said.. Fry Weezie went Tequila Loca on this mix. I told him that I wanted to hear some Old School, Disco, FreeStyle, New School and Old School Hip Hop, 90’s House, New house/Techno, KROQ Flashbacks, Funk, and (1) special request.
That Thong Th Th Th Thong!!!!. Fry, you did your thang!!!! MC Hammer, once again, Thank You. You are a true blessing to me and Fry. Enjoy the Mix and get your weekend Started.
