Friday Feel Good Quick Mix ~ 80’s Back Yard House Party

Friday Feel Good Quick Mix for Dec. 13, 2013

This week, I had an I-Dela.. I was reminiscing about our 80’s back yard house parties we used to Play for back in the day. Playing nothing but Feel Good Party Music thumping  out of our BIG Cerwin Vega bass Bottom subs and parting with different crew from all over. Soon those types of Parties got so big and popular, Crews started to rent halls. #FryWeezie Pulled out his Lap Top from his Man Purse aka Satchel and put it all in the mix. Featuring artist like MC Shy D, Egyptian Lover, L.A. Dream Team, 2 Live Crew, The World Class Wrecking Crew, Rodney O and Joe Cooley, and Many More…

Enjoy the Mix

L.A. Dream Team Bio…

Rudy Pardee, a Cleveland native, and Los Angeles’ Chris Wilson formed the L.A. Dream Team in the early ’80s. The times were rife with experimentation and the dance-rap hybrid of electro was still a new form — not yet firmly aligned with dance, with dance itself still capable of embracing hip-hop. Enterprising and resourceful, the duo formed their own label, Dream Team Records, that would go on to issue not only Dream Team records, but other early California rap as well, including the first single from J.J. Fad. The group’s electro classics include “The Dream Team Is in the House” and “Rockberry Jam.” In 1986, the group signed with MCA and recorded two albums with the label. Electro was fading from its brief mainstream popularity, however, and neither of the records sold well enough to sustain the group. L.A. Dream Team surfaced in 1993 as DTP to issue a few singles, including an update of one of their old hits, “Rockberry Revisited.” Chris Wilson went on to pursue video and music production, while Rudy Pardee died tragically in a scuba-diving accident in 1998.

Friday Feel Good Quick Mix for May 31…

This Friday Feel Good Quick Mix was featured on MiamiBass.FM‘s Memorial Day Mix Weekend. Fry Weezie mixed Bass Hits from the East to the West Coast and put it all together in a 1 hour mix. A Friday Feel Good Shout Out went out to DJ Pinky and Tello for inviting me to hang out at Gringo’s Cantina over Memorial Weekend. DJ Pinky was mixing the best of old school and took me back to Pepper’s and Quite Cannon days when Clubs were live and the music was Feel Good. I sure miss those days. At the end of the mix, we spoke about Rodney O and Joe Cooley Collaborating with Vanilla Ice on his album, Mind Blowin’ in  1994. Rodney O and Joe Cooley worked
