Will Smith Prepping New Music, Teases 2016 World Tour With DJ Jazzy Jeff

Will Smith teased plans for a world tour next summer with his longtime collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff. Nearly 30 after DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince released the triple platinum He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper in 1988, this would be a first full tour for the iconic duo. And Smith said he’s “terrified” over the prospect.

I have always wanted to see them in concert. I just wished it was back in the 80’s. Check out the Video below and watch the full interview.

#TBT – Studio 54

The crowd outside 254 West 54th Street in New York City on this day in 1927 would have been waiting for the curtain of a Puccini opera. On this day in 1957 or ’67, they would have been waiting for a filming of an episode of Password or maybe Captain Kangaroo. On this day in 1977, however, the crowd gathered outside that Midtown address was waiting and hoping for a chance to enter what would soon become the global epicenter of the disco craze and the most famous nightclub in the world: Studio 54, which opened its doors for the very first time on April 26, 1977.

The impresarios behind Studio 54 were Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, college roommates at Syracuse University who got into the nightclub business after their first venture, a chain of steak restaurants, failed to flourish. But before taking Manhattan by storm and becoming famous for openly and shamelessly excluding all but the most chic, famous or beautiful patrons from their establishment, Rubell and Schrager were running a far less pretentious operation called the Enchanted Garden in the far reaches of Queens. The woman who deserves the lion’s share of the credit for making 54 into the celebrity playground that it became was Carmen D’Alessio, a public-relations entrepreneur in the fashion industry, whose Rolodex included names like Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, Andy Warhol and Truman Capote. Her buzz-building turned the grand opening into a major item in the New York gossip columns, and her later efforts—like having Bianca Jagger ride a white horse into the club for her 30th birthday party—stoked the public’s fascination with Studio 54 even further. Not just the usual celebrity suspects—actors, models, musicians and athletes—but also political figures like Margaret Trudeau, Jackie Onassis and, infamously, White House Chief of Staff Hamilton Jordan came out to be seen during the club’s brief heyday.

From a musical standpoint, Studio 54 did not seek to break new ground, but rather to feed its patrons a familiar diet of dance hits. Artists like Grace Jones, Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor all made live appearances there, but Studio 54 belonged to the DJs and to the free entertainment provided by the club’s flamboyant staff and clientele. While disco reigned supreme on the pop charts, Studio 54 reigned supreme among discotheques, enjoying a golden era that lasted from its opening on this day in 1977 to its closing-night party on February 4, 1980—a party called, appropriately enough, “The End of Modern-day Gomorrah.”

Gabriel Iglesias Live @ my Wedding ’99

Gabe

We had the honor to have Gabriel  perform @ my wedding in Aug.  1999. This was a surprise for all my guest. I wanted a comedian for my reception and Gabriel tore down the house. This was the edited version and was only half of his routine. He goes into his Roller Coaster Ride story and ends in a hilarious imitation of Bill Clinton speaking Spanish. The videographers decided to edit his routine in order to fit with the rest of the reception on a VHS tape. We have worked with other fellow Latino Comedians at Wedding receptions. We worked along side  Rudy Moreno on another wedding reception and he had Edwin San Juan   as a guest. It was a great time working with the Latino Comedy circuit and I am glad that they all have became successful in their career. Please support them and all stand up comedians when they come to your town. I would like to Thank Gabriel and all fellow Latino Comedians that I have worked with in the past. You are all truly blessed and talented. Keep us laughing.. Enjoy

Gabriel Iglesias Live @ The Taste of Texas 2000

We had to opportunity to work with Gabriel Iglesias @fluffyguy when he started his comedy career. Working along side of Rudy Moreno, another well known Latino Comedian, he would hire us to do the sound and music for the shows. We did shows in local restaurants, banquets, V.F.W. halls, plus a variety of charity events in Los Angeles and Orange County. Gabriel will always make you laugh. I had a change to sit down with him and pick his brain for a moment. He just comes out with some crazy funny stories. It is amazing how his brain processes. Where we will see something normal, he would get the funny out of it. Gabriel is one the hardest self motivated Latino comedians around. I recall an Event that we did for a local Charity in Orange County. He drove from San Jose to Orange County to help out with an event after performing (2) late night shows. Driving 372 miles, 6 hour, do a 2 hour event in the morning and drive back for another (2) show in San Jose. Now he is enjoying his fruits of his labor and all his hard work has paid off. He continues to tour the world and is one of the most well know Latino Comedians around. He would write new martial for new events and would ask me for my input, but there was nothing that I can say. He just was born for this. I had to honor to have him perform at my wedding in ’99. I wanted a comedian to perform during dinner reception and he tore the house done. Gabriel very humble and loves his fans. Make sure to check him out one of his shows when he come to your neighborhood. That is, if it is not sold out.
